CAP Strategic Plan

The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) protects family farm incomes, supports the rural economy, ensures the production of high-quality safe food for consumers and protects rural landscapes and the environment.

The CAP has evolved over the years to meet the changing needs and demands of European agriculture and the wider European society. The latest CAP reform is no different in this regard and in line with societal demands includes a very strong emphasis on the environment.

Ireland’s Draft CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027 was submitted to the European Commission on the evening of the 31st of December 2021.  The Plan is divided into several documents which are available on the Department of Agriculture, Food and The Marine (DAFM) website under the heading ‘Ireland’s Draft CAP Strategic Plan Submitted to the European Commission’.
