Tillage Incentive Scheme and Protein/Cereal Mix Crop Scheme Now Open for Applications

Jun 28, 2022 | Biodiversity News, Farm Viability News

Minister Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue, today announced that the online application system for the Tillage Incentive Scheme and Protein/Cereal Mix Crop Scheme is now open for applications. Farmers wishing to apply for the scheme can do so either themselves or through their advisor up to 20 July 2022 by logging on to the Exceptional Aid System on www.agfood.ie.

Letters are now issuing to eligible applicants based on the crops declared on their 2022 Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) application. The crops declared on the 2022 BPS application are the basis for entry into these schemes and for any future payments under the schemes. Applicants must apply for the Schemes on www.agfood.ie to be eligible for payment under the Schemes.

The Tillage Incentive Scheme and the Protein/Cereal Mix Crop Scheme aim to incentivise farmers to grow more tillage and protein crops to reduce the dependency on imported feed material. The payment rates are €400 per hectare for the Tillage Incentive Scheme and €150 per hectare for the Protein/Cereal Mix Crop.

The terms and conditions of the Schemes are available on the department’s website and can be viewed at the following links:
