The NRN recently met with Walter Furlong Jnr to discuss the importance of the Straw Incorporation Measure (SIM) on his farm. The SIM aims to encourage tillage farmers to boost soil organic matter levels through increased recycling of straw, adding to the carbon sequestration potential of tillage soils, thus reducing GHG emissions and further improving the sector’s environmental sustainability.
