FARMWELL is a new Horizon 2020 European Thematic Network that aims to improve the mental, physical and social wellbeing of farmers through more accessible social innovations which help address common social challenges facing the farming community such as mental health issues, isolation, physical risks, stress caused by negative societal perceptions, challenges of farm succession and gender issues. Whilst social innovation is gaining increasing importance in a farming context, it predominately focusses on addressing wider societal problems, and is rarely offered as a solution to improve the wellbeing of farmers at farm level. FARMWELL aims to address this by placing a greater focus on farmers and their families in various national and local contexts, from both partner countries and beyond at the European level. More information about this innovative project can be found on the project’s website.
