Upcoming Seminar on Starting a Food Business

As part of Enterprise week, running from March 2nd to 6th, the Kilkenny Local Enterprise Office in conjunction with Teagasc and Kilkenny LEADER Partnership are hosting a seminar on ‘Starting a Food Business’. This seminar will take place on Wednesday, March 4th in the Springhill Court Hotel in Kilkenny, from 10.45am – 1pm.

This event is targeted at people who are interested in diversifying their farm enterprise and adding value through artisan food production. This event will present opportunities for those thinking of developing their own food businesses to meet and network with a number of food businesses that are established and in various stages of development, including Jimmy Mulhall from Coolanowle Meats, Helen Murphy of Mooncoin Beetroot, Rosemary O’Shea of Tullyhay Farm and Patricia Butler of Butlers Family Farm who will all feature as part of a panel discussion. Other key speakers include Anne Ging who is the co-owner of Ballykeefe Distillery and Chairperson of the Kilkenny Food Strategy and Eddie O’Neill who is a Food Specialist with Teagasc and has helped many food enterprises in becoming established.

All of the speakers, as well as representatives of key supporting agencies such as Kilkenny LEADER Partnership, the LEO, Teagasc, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) and the County Veterinary Office will all be on hand to talk through the ranges of supports and funding schemes and grants that food enterprises can avail of.
