The National Rural Network (NRN) recently published a booklet showcasing cooperation project examples supported under the LEADER Programme 2014-2020 (extended to 2022). To highlight the diversity of case studies featured within, the NRN is currently running a bi-weekly social media initiative.
The aim of LEADER Cooperation is to help local Stakeholders improve the potential of their rural areas by working together on joint projects for mutual benefit.
Two projects were promoted on the NRN Facebook and Twitter channels in March:
- On pages 5-13, read about the International Appalachian Trail (IAT) Ulster Ireland. Beginning at Slieve League in Co. Donegal, this 449-kilometre coast-to-coast cross-border walking trail traverses four counties and six LAG areas, before finishing at the port of Larne in Co. Antrim.
- On pages 14-19, read about how the Innocrafts Irish Finnish Craft Cooperation provided craftmakers in Offaly, Westmeath and a rural area in Finland with an exciting opportunity to share and develop new skills, by facilitating participation in an enterprise craft-training programme and creative skills exchange.
